Black-and-white portrait of a young man with curly hair, glasses, beard, wearing a button-up shirt, against a plain background.

Hola, I'm Jorge — and I'm glad you're here.

I'm Jorge Amaya, a commercial photographer based in Sterling, Virginia. For over eight years, I've worked with companies, executives, attorneys, nonprofits, and individuals across Northern Virginia and Washington DC — helping them show up with clarity, confidence, and images that actually look like them.

A little about me

I grew up in Virginia, and photography found me early. My dad introduced me to it when I was a teenager, and something about the process just clicked — the light, the people, the way a single frame could say everything a paragraph couldn't. What started as curiosity became a craft, and that craft became a career built around one simple idea: that great photography should feel easy for the person in front of the camera.

My approach

Most people don't love being photographed. They feel stiff, self-conscious, or unsure of what to do with their hands. I get it — and it's exactly what I spend every session working against.

My job isn't just to take the shot. It's to get you to a place where the shot happens naturally. We'll move at a pace that feels right, talk through what we're doing, and take the time we need. By the time we're done, most clients tell me it felt less like a shoot and more like hanging out with a friend who just happens to have a camera.

That's exactly what I'm going for.

What I do

I work across four areas:

Corporate headshots for teams, executives, and offices across Northern Virginia and Washington DC — on-location, consistent, and built around your schedule.

Professional portraits for founders, attorneys, speakers, and personal brands who need imagery that carries real weight.

Brand campaigns for marketing teams and service businesses that need a planned set of images built around a specific goal — a launch, a website refresh, a recruiting push.

Event photography for conferences, summits, association meetings, and galas — documented with a clear shot plan and a photojournalistic eye.

At the end of the day, I don't want to hand you just another photo. I want to give you an image that reflects your story, your energy, and your presence — something you'll actually be proud to use.

Thanks for being here. I'm looking forward to creating something real with you.

Con un gran abrazo, Jorge Amaya
